Green was with me shortly after I recd. your letter & I read out to him your report of the condition in which his case arrived & I need scarcely say that he was woefully disappointed & grieved. This week he has handed over to Lincoln the second Box of Peat in which I have told him to pack some tubers of Nymphaea Alba & Nymphaea Advena. Should these arrive alive, I will send you packed in a similar way tubers of some of the more beautiful of the Tuber, which will grow well in your Tanks, and I daresay out of doors also in your Ponds. I have a small Tank in one of my Houses where I intend to cultivate some of the smaller growing Nymphaeas. I am going to try & hybridise the common European Species
