He was a Xtian in the proper sense of the term, and a dear kind genial companion, and so passes away as it appears to me long before his time, the friend of all others, for you & he seem to me to be one, most associated with the happiest part of my life.
Forgive me for dwelling on this sad loss in this selfish way I think in truth from touching upon your sorrows. Time alone can alleviate them and I am sure that you will pardon me if I make no attempt at consolation.
Even in its present condition your poor Brothers example was of infinite moral worth to the Colony & I shall be sadly disappointed & think worse of the New South
