After swanking about inside in the gaze of all the people looking through the door I came out & looked around. There is a particularly fine memorial erected by Q Vic to the memory of her younger sister who predeceased her & would have reigned in her stead had she not so died.

The subject comprises four shrouded forms prostrate with guilt mourning the death of the young princess while three great angels hover above one bearing in its arms the young child towards heaven. The statue is so placed that the rays of the setting sun will shine  thereon through a special coloured window & throw a golden tint over all.

Queen Anne Bolyn was imprisoned in one of the towers of the castle, beheaded at the Tower of London &  buried in the castle together with Charles II  & George ?.   Part of the castle was built by Wm Conqueror & so placed to command the main street  in Windsor.

The old lady then showed me through Eton College and all the gounds & invited me to tea. Unfortunately I had to catch my train so could only take her home but I have got an open invitation there whenever I come to Windsor.

I am hut picquet  for three days so have a real good job - just minding the hut hence this long letter.

There are several enclosures - no.  under separate cover. Jack sends kind regards.

Love to all from Verner.

Have had letters from Elsie Fisher, Aunt Jessie, & Joy inter alia - am sending some photos back for safe keeping. V.C.
