Dear Mother
I have about three of your letters to answer Nos 37, two 38's, another 38 & 39. Also received a couple of papers last mail. The afternoon at the Wentworth seems to have been a success - pretty swanky. I suppose we will be feeling the benefit of it soon. I think it advisable judging by the general opinion that eatables particularly tinned fruit & condensed milk be sent instead of clothing. We can get any amount of clothing from the military & eatables leave a good impression. Jean gave me a full account of Myra's swanky evening for the artists and the directions they all had about going home early & not eating too much. Jack's sister is quite puzzled about Myra - likes her very much but can't get the "strong" of her. That was a very nice letter of Miss Davis to Dad. I wrote to her not long ago thanking her for a parcel she sent me. Today is my birthday & we are having a bit of a feed to keep it and Jack's up in town tonight. Last birthday I spent at Dakar & we had a feed there.

Last night we had a good feed & struck a good place - had a piano so we had a musical evening. Reg Heagan is still in England but I haven't heard from him for some time. What is Elsa's chap like? Why isn't he at the war? I think the chap Dad pointed out in that
