Dear Mother, Dad & Sister,
I have such an enormous lot to tell you & such an awful lot of letters to answer that I really do not know where to begin. First of all I received fifteen letters today & three papers, No. 9 10 11 from you & one from Myra. The clipping referrring to the YMCA huts on the Plain is quite true, it is truly the finest institution of its kind in the empire - perhaps in the world. I had to laugh when I read about that fan where you saw Jacks & my signature. A party of us visited Cecil Rhodes home & one of them "pinched" that fan from Lady Botha's dressing table. He got us to sign it as a souvenir of the visit. I don't know whether Mrs Botha even missed it. The Monks boys wish to be reminded about you coming to England. Don't let anything stand in your way of seeing this country - it is wonderful but come after the war as it will be more wonderful.
