am getting quite used to it. I am feeling pretty fit & well on account of this rough outside life - there is nothing like it.
Just a while ago Fritz lobbed half a dozen shells in quick succession right near us & made us skittle into our dugouts like rats - he has a habit of doing this now & again quite unexpectedly. We expect some work again tonight & are now going to prepare - Goodnight.
Next day
Happily nothing much happened & we were finished by midnight & slept till noon the next day when we were relieved. This is the life we lead day after day - 24 hrs in the trenches & 24 out - & would become very monotonous but for the excitement. It is a wonderful existence though men "carry on" in the midst of it all just in the unconcerned
