the issue of knives & forks etc including a carving knife & fork & a knife board & polish. I don't think these latter will see much use.

We have been doing practically nothing yet as disorder has reigned, however things are beginning to run now.

After dropping the pilot we said good bye to Sydney & turned southward passing the old familiar spots. I could see the Coogee bathing sheds as we passed.

Everyone remarked upon the great send off we got & said it was worth enlisting for.

I saw Auntie Marie waving a sheet as we passed Lang's Point. Jack & I went to bed last night at 8 pm & slept on deck as our apartments are very stuffy being as far down as the water line  - we can't have the porthole open except in very smooth weather. However it is beautiful of a night & many take to the decks although it is forbidden. Today the sea has been as smooth as possible, a few have been sick but I am OK. I met Ron & Wal Fraser, Alan Beg (who used to live in Elesmere St Kenso some years ago) & Bert Duckworth whom Dad will know. He used to swim with us in Long Bay in
