figuring in the late fighting is a fine spot. I remember sitting on the top of that once watching the battle line for miles - it was then well away from the line - it is the highest point in Belgium.
It is hard to realise that the town I bought that scarf of Myra's in is practically a no man's land now - Bailleul. That town we know from top to bottom there can't be much of it left now. Armentières - Merville & all the villages round those parts are very familiar. How we used to wander round them & the country & admire the richly cultivated fields in summer time - it was a huge garden there.
That table centre of mothers - the lace - those knives - that little souvenir of Miss Yiend's the scarf of Jean's that went down were all bought in Bailleul.
We are still having a quiet time - indulge in much sport chiefly football.
