Dear Mother,

Have at last received an Australian mail - it is the first for a month & is not all here yet. Have received two No. 27 from you. Three from Jean & many others -  Mick Nell - Ivy - Auntie Jess - Jack & from Lindfield. Now about your letters. Re one   of our officers who was wounded - he was not at the time on duty with his unit - temporarily detached - so we can't say that we have had any casualties yet. He received two or three slight wounds in the back from machine gun bullets - he was very lucky though, although he didn't score a  "Blighty" out of it. Don't worry about us having a bad time it is just the opposite we are having a fine time - just a little bit exciting at times but generally one would hardly credit that things were under war conditions. You all seem to have had a fairly quiet time at Xmas - of course you know how I spent mine by this. It was very kind of Mrs Healy to send Jack that box of chocolates. It will be very funny when we get back to find all our mother's friends. I don't know what we will all do when we have to part we are such a happy family here. I am sure that will be the saddest part. There is no doubt this is a great
