but are terrible take downs, and our boys suffered on account of their good nature more than anything. The rickshas are hired by the natives at 2/6 per day, & they say the natives do not last long at the game. Their wind breaks after about five years or they contract consumption by getting so hot & cold quickly but they are wonderfully fine specimens physically - in contrast to the natives of Ceylon - and one can well imagine what the old Zulu warriors were like. The trams are fairly up to date electric - double deckers the roof open - no good for wet weather I should suppose. In the centre of the town a square something like our Wynyard Square (see souvenir) bounded by the Town Hall, P.O. & Royal Hotel. The Town Hall is not quite as big as ours but is one of the prettiest buildings I have ever seen. It is plastered white but would look a lot
