the first post & now we are at a reserve post with nothing to do but go for rations & a swim each day. I am going down for a swim after tea. We are living like kings at present - generally do in the line because we do our own cooking & can buy whatever we want. On account of little exercise we limit ourselves to two meals a day & supper. Breakfast at 11am. Dinner at 6.30 pm, & supper at 10 pm, read till midnight - reveille at 10 am. Last night Fritz put over some gas shells & we were in our masks for a while. But we can make our dugout practically gas proof & leave off the masks. It is a bosker little dugout papered with sheets & ornaments & looking glasses but we have to eat sleep & cook in it. The little primus does good work these days.
