a prisoner. One chap said to the guard "What have you got there". "Is he wounded?" "No. Right oh hitch him in here". Another SB for us. They worked very well all day poor beggars & were then marched off to a camp. I got several souvenirs in the way of badges & shoulder straps but there was not much variety. I tried to get a cap but the Fritz wanted it - he gave me the two buttons off it.
Cases were still coming in at 5 pm when we were relieved. Some of them had been lying out in no man's land all day. One poor chap with a wound in the leg was brought in who had been lying in a shellhole since 6 am but he died while we were carrying him to the next relay post.
Our last trip was with a fourteen stoner. It is curious that all the big men seem to get wounded or is it that one doesn't notice how big
