passages & often have to hold them on the stretchers at arms length above our heads to get them around the corners - we also have much practice in carrying the stretchers a good way. This is the most solid work in the whole army. The RAMC [Royal Army Medical Corps] seems to be recognised as a dumping ground by the other English units by the Australian units take their hats off the AAMC [Australian Army Medical Corps] stretcher bearers. They reckon they wouldn't take on the job for  £1 a day it is so strenuous. I am very thankful for having such good health & feeling so fit. I have grown a bit since I left Sydney &  now weigh 10 st 4.

I am enclosing some photos & films & a letter I received from Billy.

There are many rumours flying about as to when we are going over to France but no one knows anything for certain. We are getting our colours next week - chocolate oval so that looks significant. We are very comfortable here & very happy getting real good food & feeling stronger & fitter than I have ever been.

Jack is also OK. We were split up into three sections lately but Jack & I & most of the boys managed to keep in the same section A. We have got easily the best & ablest officers. The Col. makes an appearance now & again & gives us a terrible lot of bluff which the boys have got used to now.

We have to be inoculated next Monday for typhoid & para-typhoid. The diseases are much alike but require different treatment. What will
