Also rec'd the papers about France's Day & showed them to the French people here. They were surprised at the size of our journals - the French papers only have about two pages in them.

The weather here is still perfect but is getting a little cooler. Our summer in Australia can't come near Frances for perfection. We get one or two days not too hot or not too cold but France gets months of them & this summer is supposed to be pretty wet. I could well imagine this summer here as being the most beautiful climate in the world & during the same France is one huge Chinaman's garden. In fact from the tops of a certain hill as far as the eye can reach across the plains of Flanders it looks like a magnified vegetable garden - hop fields - grain etc reposing in the luxuriance of which are a myriad
