Dear Mother,
I have just received two parcels dated 22.11.17 & 6.12.17 both containing cakes which I might say went like wild fire. Since last writing we have had a shift & are now away out in the country somewhere near where we were before. This time we are not on a farm but in the roof of an estaminet. We crawl up by a staircase through the manhole. It is very convenient for we can just hop down stairs into the estaminet for chips & eggs for supper. We have a big room in the estaminet opposite for a recreation room & are getting a piano from a town near by. Jack & I went in with an officer yesterday to see about it. Jack is the interpreter & I am the selector. Since arriving here the weather has been simply perfect. Our training while out of the line consists of a route march every morning & sport every afternoon. Leave to neighbouring
