already told you how that came to an end. It was a beauty & when steamed up & served with condensed milk or syrup went pretty quickly. We have the place rigged up a treat. I was just having a look at our stock. We have bully beef galore (with an onion & a bit of flour this makes good risoles) jam tins condensed milk & the old familiar "Uncle Toby's" butter cheese & many other condiments. A chap passing by looked in the door & thinking it was a canteen waltzed right in  & asked for a tin of milk. We have been having a quiet time lately - not much doing - I don't know how long it will last. The news lately has been pretty good by the papers - we get all the news regularly.

About cables, Jack & I had decided to send home cables monthly but lately an order came out prohibiting soldiers from sending cables except while in hospital so you won't be able to hear from us.

We received the two waterproof capes alright. They will come in useful if we get any wet weather. Jack is writing to you this mail so he will speak for himself. We have not had an Australian mail for about three weeks. It has been delayed a week for some
