The Monk boys are well. Stan is in England having been ill & I think will rejoin the unit before we leave here for Aussie. Les asked me down to a bit of a beano the transport had in their billets the other night to play the piano for them. In this village we have no common recreation room & the piano travels round from billet to billet in turn. We are still well dug in in our little home. Monsieur & Madame are very fine country people & do a lot for us.  Of a morning we go & get her water at the village pump for the day & she does all our cooking. One day in the week she makes the following week's supply of bread - (all the french farms have a little oven built at the side of the big open fire place for making their own bread) - & makes us a loaf of french bread & two big apple tarts. Of a night she cooks our meat & vegetables & sweets. For the last month I don't think
