[Pahge 104]

some weeks but expect a big one tomorrow. What came today were parcels only.

The latest news of most interest to us is that we - the whole division - have been granted four days'  leave to commence in a week or two. Jack & I are going to Scotland, Glasgow & Edinburgh, Loch Lomond & any other place we have time to do.

Last Saturday we took a car to Salisbury  - dined there & caught the train to Bournemouth - a seaside resort on the south coast about 30 miles away. It is a great place just like Manly but with the addition of a fine pier & beautiful winter gardens.
 €‹Supper.

Next morning
What a beano was supper last night. The pudding - toast cocoa nuts lollies. Someone remembered he had a tin of cream & Rex cheese, another produced a box of cakes & the vegetable laxatives constituted the final course. The guests passed a vote of thanks for the pudding which was the star item.

Talking about Bournemouth again. At the winter garden they cater for good musical taste. Mark Hamburg is playing there next Saturday  & we were thinking of going down if we don't go to London instead. The pier is also alive with gaity. Music concerts cafes pierrots & Punch & Judy shows going only at night. The place can not be lit up but I can imagine what it would be like in peace time when flanels would be substitued for the blue uniforms.
