"Whose coat have you got on" & such like. It took a whole day to get to Paris & we arrived there at 9 pm & made our way to Mlle Panaget to whom we had a letter of introduction. As soon as she saw us she beamed all over & was quite excited in the French manner. She didn't have any rooms but told us we were going to sleep there all the same so after a nice supper & a yarn in French she made us up beds in the sitting room before the fire & we stayed there all the time.

About the people. This Mlle Panaget kept the flat & there were about a dozen people staying there. One was a V.A.D. nurse who worked in the soldiers' club in Paris & was one of the finest girls I have met. She had been in Germany before the war & could speak German French & Italian beside English quite well. She is a typical Australian girl, though English - her name is Miss Swan. She used to look after us well & in return we took her often to afternoon tea at the Paris cafes - for motor trips round Paris & to the theatres. Mlle Panaget
