was displayed & some of the cronies & many of the soldiers got zig-zag. In Abbeville I believe excitement ran high. Officers & privates fraternized & celebrated together. We had a wild night in the Ambulance but things were quite normal the next day  & it was surprising how the news was taken just as a matter of course. In fact we would all have been surprised if the terms had not been accepted. In the line it must have been novel especially down south where a big battle was raging at the time & ceased suddenly at 11 am. Yesterday we all went into Abbeville the nearest town for a days leave. In turn with the other units of the division we got a motor lorry supplied to take us on leave to this town. It was very dead though all peace celebrations have practically died out. Some
