half I sleep & have all next day off. Jack is running a canteen at one of the Advanced Dressing Stations. This is the first time I have missed going into the trenches with the first party. In a few days I am taking on the postman's job while he is one leave so I don't think I will see the line at all this time. All the same it is as good in the line as out on these quiet fronts in fact it is better in - no parades & no bosses & on an average one wounded man a day - I suppose you can hardly believe that they could be that quiet but it is quite true.
Nothing exciting has happened for a long time - one night Jack & I went to a Pierrot show & in the middle of it Fritz dropped a bomb just outside which nearly shook the building down - however the performance went on. Here we are billeted practically next door to another Pierrot show & we often make up big theatre parties of 20 or 30 & flood the reserved seats. It is a fine show with orchestra of about fifteen.
