The tubes too are great. You descend by a moving staircase down about 40 feet & in rattles an electric train &  how do they travel, They simply  dash into the station & out in the darkness again & in a few minutes you find yourself on the other side of London & sometimes after travelling five minutes you come up again in the same place.   But there are plenty of sign posts & maps to help the wanderer  underground. That night we went to the Savoy Theatre (to hear H.B Irving) next door to the Savoy Hotel. The Savoy & Cecil adjoin one another & front the  Strand & the Thames embankment.
