& we drink plenty of it.
Lately we are getting excellent food issued including roast chestnuts & boiled onions. Last night we went to a Pierrot show in one of the city halls. It is given by artists out of the Division & they are relieved from all other duties. It was much better than one would find anywhere at an ordinary Pierrot show & within half a mile of the firing line. Outside the guns boomed & the men in the trenches were trying hard to kill & inside was the theatre where music & gaiety were at their height & there was not a thought of war. We don't do too bad - we are all very well.
Remember me to all the neighbours & love to all at home.
From your loving son
Verner
P.S. Received Myra's letter. Wouldn't mind hearing from Dad now & again.
