He was very well liked & treated us well. However he is still connected with us & has control of all our movements & leave. He is O.C. of our new O.C. The new chap promises to be very decent & it was quite funny how he met us. He reported here the night we were giving the late C.O. the send off so he came in & was introduced from the stage. He gave us a fine little speech & made a good impression.

Things are going on very quietly here. There seems to be nothing doing & everything seems purposeless. It is all a simple waste of time - just a matter of filling in time. We still have the piano & knock out a good bit of amusement. Jack's latest craze is Italian - he has an Italian grammar now to study.

I was speaking to one of our new officers the other day & in the course of the conversation made it known to him that I was interested in law - so he is going to give me an introduction to his uncle in London when I go on
