Christmas Day
1916

Dear Mother & family,

A Merry Xmas although it is nearly over with you. We are having a rather decent time. Woke up this morning & found a present from Australia. A tin containing cigarettes tobacco & pipe writing material & lollies. After a breakfast of bacon & eggs we were issued with lollies cholocates  & cigarettes & are now going to partake of a big dinner. The nurses are providing a good tea & then a concert after. All the morning the boys have been decorating our dining tents  & it  promises to be something decent. I have not received any mail or parcels since I have been here. I suppose they will accumulate back at the
