Larkhill Camp No 3
16/10/16
Dear Dad,
Re the cable for £10. It was quite genuine. When in London I called on Mr Reeves & produced the letter. He was very nice but said nothing to me about coming to him for money if I got stuck.
I wrote to him some time ago asking could I arrange to draw money through him if necessary. He replied that he would be very glad to cash any draft for me on Mr Dunhill.
I didn't think I ought to go as far as signing drafts & creating legal obligations so I wrote back thanking him & decided to cable home. However I treated your reply as an authority to get the money somehow as I am just about stoney, so wrote to Mr Reeves asking him to make the £10 available & to fix up about the draft. He seemed to have tons of money & I didn't think he would require anything like a draft. I hope Mr Dunhill won't mind. Let me know as soon as you get this whether I am acting correctly.
