The castle seems to be placed right on top of a hill in the centre of the town & in the middle of a beautiful garden. The mote round the central round tower has been made into a veritable garden of Eden - Fountains gardens lawns rockeries trees & beautiful terraces.
From the battlements one can see all over the sourrounding country & I was just taking a photo when two old ladies came up & started to ask me many questions. Seeing that I was alone they invited me to the service in the Castle Chapel saying that the King & Queen might be present so I went.
Several minor royalties had passed in & the service was about to commence when the K & Q arrived. I was sitting along in th passage along which they passed so had a good view. As they passed along the people bowed - so did I - & it was noticed for the King bowed in return & looked me in the face as he passed. Of course the uniform did it.
The King is a small man, sharp cut features & rather stern looking - very fair. Put a beard on Mr Kerr & you have the King. He was dressed very smartly in long coat & top hat. The Queen
