Dear Sister,

I am sitting in a little dugout with a nice coke fire glowing & pretty comfy. Outside the sun is shining as it has been for a week or two & the snow is glistening everywhere. The weather is rather cold having averaged 16 º to 17 º  below zero for a fortnight but so long as we can keep moving it is easy to keep warm. However in the   trenches one can only sit in the dugouts & gaze at the other side of the trench. Fritz just landed half a dozen shells about 50 yards away. We can hear them coming for a
