It is over a week now since snow fell but there is still plenty about also ice & the mud is frozen as hard as stones. To walk over the ice is like walking over glass as it breaks & crackles underfoot. The country looks beautiful under snow with everything showing up black & gloomy against it. While it remains cold everything is particularly dry & although we haven't seen the sun for weeks but as soon as it begins to thaw the mud will melt & become sloppy again.
