the prominent figure being a Mrs Somebody who was the leading red cross organiser, then comes our naval men including Beatty Jellicoe Robinson VC & Warnton VC - then the Prince of Wales - the King Kitchener Lord Roberts Haig & then the politicians of whom Lloyd George is most conspicuous in grey. The right of the section not in this picture includes the Aussie flag, Australian military men & soldiers & under the right tablet shown is Capt Fryatt & Nurse Cavell. This is the finest section of the lot excluding of course the main centre to France. The background of the picture is the whole of the western front from Dunkerque to Verdun showing hills valleys woods roads rivers & towns & as far as the eye can distinguish there are soldiers guns & transports marching in along the roads (from which you can see the dust arising) towards the grand central steps.
