good time for the rest of the war.

Jack & I were going to Bournemouth last week end but missed the train & only went as far as Salisbury & spent a great afternoon & night. We always visit the Cathedral to hear the bosker music & singing in the afternoon & then went in search of more music. Found it at the Soldiers' refreshment rooms in the Council Chambers. They have a voluntary orchestra playing there every Saturday & Sunday.

We met there a party of chaps out of the hut who had engaged a table at the "Old George" for dinner in the night so at their invitation joined them & had a reminiscence of Farmers. Nothing we have met yet can come near Farmers' - we paid 4/- for a four course meal. I suppose the nearest to Farmer's would be at the Cecil & Savoy & there you couldn't get it under 10/-. Afterwards we engaged a car for eleven o'clock & went to the vaudeville. As Jack happened to be cookhouse picquet we had our supper over there on toast when we arrived home.
