I am glad you interpreted the cable from Paris all right. I thought it would beat the military telegram & you would guess the circumstances. Don't worry about the gass. I did not get any internally & it never affected me at all beyond blistering my skin in several places & they soon healed up.

About the parcels. Most of them turn up all right but don't worry about sending them regularly & so often because we all live pretty well, we are old enough soldiers to manage that & are really not in need of them. A cake now & again wouldn't be bad and always welcome and socks are but having a canteen in the unit & always being near towns we can always get what we want. I would rather you sent them to someone more in need of them for instance Albert North & anyone in the infantry where conditions
