Eventually we arrived back at the MDS where we got a good hot meal & a good dixie of tea. That tea was the most welcome I have tasted for many a long day. From here we got a motor amb. back to our own place - issued with brandy & given a good sleep.
We successfully captured all the "strong points" we were after. Lost one & recaptured it again next morning & dug in under a smoke barrage. A smoke barrage is a pretty thing to watch. The shell bursts into a shower of sparks wich themselves burst & give off thick smoke. In a few minutes all visibilty beyond it is completely blocked out. Fritz is using new lights now. They break into a bunch of red kind of lights & come down strung together.
