Dear Dad,
I have a letter of yours of 23/4/17. At that time you were having pretty wet weather while over here it was simply perfect.
I haven't heard from Billy lately but he is still on HQ in London & I think he is cute enough to stay there [indecipherable] the weeding out process. Of course you know all the war news - more than I do I suppose - about Russia, coming again & the air raids on London. Fritz seems to be very keen on bombing excursions lately - many local raids here happening lately. He came over the other night - dropped verey lights to light up the place & tried to get an aerodrome I think but missed. These raids are a new experience for us & worse than shells. He flies very low at night so low that on moonlight nights we can easily see him. Sometimes they put up searchlights & shell him but our night flyers are the only thing of any use to drive him off.
