"kind strangers" who wanted to show us round. We fell in & after boring us stiff for half an hour & stinging Jack for a cigarette we managed to find an excuse to get rid of him. I "put over" some tale. Jack backed me up & we said good bye-ee to the nice gentleman who was "so interested in Aussies & was so good to them" & a lot of other rot we swallowed "cum grans salis". But it cost us 1/- for he popped the question as I was expecting for "a couple of drinks" as he was poor & no work - just the usual tale. But before he went he gave Jack & me a copy of some blithering bunkum he said he had written for the kings of the nations for which he was specially thanked by some big head. It is a relic & I will post it home later. Don't lose it whatever you do it cost me a bob, & it is worth hundreds. I kicked myself for the rest of the afternoon to think that I
