time then as the mud gets ankle deep at the best & has to be continually shovelled away. We do not feel the cold much being well provided with socks & woollens. While it is dry the cold is rather pleasant but with rain it is pretty uncomfortable. We are very comfortable here in a small kitchen with a roaring fire going & plenty of cocoa & toast to guzzle. I am wearing a pair of old French wooden clogs, they are very warm. After breakfast we go to sleep till 3 or 4 o'clock & then go out for a walk till 8 pm.
