Thursday 1 March 1917
Up at 8.30. Up to the aerodrome after breakfast. Went out to Addington in a tender with Mathias and to the field where he landed last night. Found the front tank leaking and had to empty out all the petrol before I could let him fly the machine back. He got off at about 12.30 and I went back to the aerodrome in the tender. He had'nt arrived when I got there & rang up to say he had lost his way & landed again at Kenley Common. I had lunch & then went out in a tender and flew the machine back to the aerodrome. Ran into an awful fog and had great trouble in finding the aerodrome. The fog ended the day's flying. A new flight commander has come & taken over "B" Flight. So I loose that! I am to take over "C" Flight for the next two days while Williams is on leave. I don't see much chance of getting my flight now!
