Wednesday 7 November 1917
Up at 8.30. After breakfast took Villiers up in a Fighter & made four attempts to roll it. Got upside down each time but never quite succeeded in getting a clean "roll". Went up again & did 4 more, one of which was a perfect one. By tender to Cirencester where I left "girlie" with Mrs. Vidal & caught the 12.40 to London. Rang up Aunty from Porchester Terrace. Taxi to the hospital & saw Maurice. He is looking very fit – far better than I expected. Then to get theatre seats & picked up Margaret Vidal's box at Kensington. Back to Porchester Terrace & met old Gilbert who looks splendid. Margaret came to dinner & with us to see "The Saving Grace" at the Garrick. It was a very good play. Charles Hawtrey is very good. Mary was not well & went home with Aunty. Gilbert, Cicely, Margaret & I went to the Regent Palace for coffee & then home by taxi.
