Thursday 30 August 1917
Up at 6.30 for early flying. Went up to test the weather & then Flower went up. Back to breakfast about 9.30. Back to aerodrome. After lunch had to be at parade. Started to rain again. Staines goes overseas tomorrow. The C.O. goes on a fortnight's course on Saturday. To add to the general disorganisation the Colonel wants me to go to Rendcomb to fly Bristol Fighters! It is is the utter limit! I suppose this may mean overseas soon but I hope not for Mother & Father's sake. Anyway I am not going on Fighters if I can help it. I have flown too much at one job now to change to fighting machines.
Campbell was to dinner. After dinner we all went to the Clarendon. Back to bed about 12.
