Wednesday 3 October 1917
Misty in early morning. After breakfast I took Bridgland up in a Fighter any and gave him two loops & a spin from 4000-1000. Very strong wind blew up after lunch. Went off about 8.30 in a BE & flew to Oxford in 22 minutes. Had tea at the George with Buckeridge & Buswell. After doing some shopping went to dinner at the Mitre with Major & Mrs. Henderson & Miss Garrard. Drove out to the aerodrome to the concert – not a bad show. Back to the C.O's place where I slept. Poor Major Ward has been killed. R.I.P.
