Monday 26 February 1917
Up at 7.30 as the day was wonderfully fine & bright. Up to the aerodrome after breakfast. Some delay in getting machines ready in my flight. That is going to stop! Went up at 9 in a BE2b to test it. My first flight in a 2b. Up about 20 minutes. Sent Trigg & Leake off on 2bs to do their cross country. Stayed on sending men up to do their tests till 2.30 & the came back to lunch. Back to the aerodrome about 3.30 p.m. Clouds had come over & a strong wind. Trigg came back from his cross country. Leake got into a spin & crashed over at South Darenth. He wasn't hurt. Sent a salvage party out to get the wreck.
After dinner Williams, Lethybridge & I went to see "Half past Eight" at Croydon Empire. Wasn't at all a bad show.
