Wednesday 19 December 1917
Woke at 9. Breakfast in bed. Segrave & Miss W.M. called for me at 11 & drove me to aerodrome. Perfectly fine so we were going to start but a 12.30 it was postponed till tomorrow on account of fog at Lilbourne. Segrave went off. I stayed & had lunch at aerodrome. Wandered round aimlessly till 4. Cullinan arrived on a Fighter. Had tea & Davis turned up. Colonel Carthew who now has this wing came to tea. He remembered me when I introduced myself. Curtis rang up at last! He crashed on Monday at Weston Super Mare!! What a relief to know he is all right! Segrave did'nt turn up to take me to Barnsley. Davis & I went to the office & sent various wires. Pyle is at Tetbury & Tylor at Tewkesbury. Davis went by sidecar to the Rectory. I waited till the sidecar came back & then went to the Rectory & had some dinner at 9 p.m.! Walked to the Park with Mrs. V. & told Segrave all the news. Back to bed about 11.30.
