Sunday 2 December 1917
Up at 7.30 for early flying. A bitterly cold day – the coldest this winter so far. Went up in the morning & did various rolls, spins, loops, etc. Extraordinarily bumpy up. Became to bad for flying in afternoon. Segrave, Davis & I spent the afternoon shooting clay pigeons. Rumours are afloat that Sydney has been bombarded by raiders! Sounds incredible, but one can never tell these days.
