Sunday 16 December 1917
Up at 5.45. Dressed & packed all our kit. Breakfast at 7.15. Those going by train went at 8. We waited for daylight but it was raining & blowing a gale that made our starting quite hopeless. Walked to the Wing with Segrave & Davis & saw Page. Decided to all go to Bournemouth for the night. Caught the 10.49. Walked to the Royal Bath Hotel & took rooms. Went for a stroll with Segrave. Lunch at the Bath. Message from the Colonel recalling us all. Caught the 4.1 train back. Much trouble over our going to Bournemouth! Still very "dud" weather. Dinner in mess & then by tender to Beaulieu to our billets. Davis & I to the Mill House. Yarned till 12 & then to bed. Snowing & very wet & cold.
