Monday 16 July 1917
Up at 6.30 for early flying. Gave Livock some landings & he did a splendid solo. Formation flying in morning. No. 1 Squadron turned up from Gosport in formation & did some most amazing "stunting". Lunched at the Clarendon with Pethy, Marbury & Foote. In afternoon I led a formation. Asked to go to Gosport to see old Colonel Mitchell who is back on leave. Got old "Bull" Durham to come. We left in RE8 at 7.10 & landed at Gosport at 8.10 p.m. Dinner at the mess & taxi to the house where Foote & Co. live. Had a great yarn with old "Mitch" & a very cheery evening. To bed on sofa at 3.30 a.m.!!
