Saturday 20 October 1917
Very weary. Up at 8.30. Took Sgt. Hardeman up in a fighter & later sent him off solo. Tested another machine. After lunch led a 5 machine formation for half an hour & then did some gun camera and a bit of stunting – 4 loops in succession. Mrs. & Miss Vidal, Miss Wickham Musgrave, Mrs. James & young James came to tea. Had a very cheery party. To bed early after dinner.
Gilbert has arrived on a surprise leave in England for 3 weeks. It is splendid.
