Thursday 8 February 1917
Didn't wake till 11 o'clock. Got up about 11.30 and had breakfast in my room. After lunch I went into Bethune with Garland and Burrell. Called at the Field Cashier & the Bank of France on the way to draw some money. Then to the canteen and bought a dozen bottles of champagne and some cigars for my farewell night. Then to tea at the patisserie shop. Had a hair cut & then back to the squadron. Changed & went to the Wing to dinner. Had a very cheery evening. The Colonel was very nice about my going away. Back to bed about 11.30.
The snow has been on the ground for over three weeks now and it is still freezing!
