Saturday 26 May 1917
Up at 9. Fine Hot day. No pupils for RE8. Developed some films before lunch. Went to Croydon with Pethy after lunch to do some shopping. Back to aerodrome. Developed & printed some films. Took Baldwin up in RE8 after tea. Got to 4000 feet & a landing wire snapped! Came down very slowly & landed all right. A nasty experience. Started off for London with Pethy about 8.30. Got a blow-out at Mitcham & had to ring up for a new tube which Corpl. Lyell brought out in the Met. I drove the Met back. After some late dinner I went to aerodrome to see about the RE8.
Big air Raid on S.E. coast last yesterday evening – aeroplanes this time.
