Wednesday 21 February 1917
Up at 8.30. After breakfast taxi to the station to catch the 10 train to London. Luckily we left early for the taxi had no petrol & we had to tranship to another. Said good bye to Aunty & the girls at the station. Arrived London at 11.15. Taxi to Cox & Co. where I met Foster & Stammers. Then to the Junior A & N & got my field boots & then to the Thackeray. Took a room & then to the Bank for letters. Then to Thos. Cooks. Met Foster at the Carlyle Club & we lunched at the Picadilly. To Cooling & Lawrence & tried on uniform. Bought Flying Cap & goggles at Herbert Johnsons. To Harrods about the photos of the cross. To the Bank but no letters. Went to Confession at Corpus Christi in Maiden Lane. Tea at Regent Palace. Met Woods who was at Oxford & has been smashed up & got a year's leave! Also met Rodwell. Met Stan McDowell & two other M.O's & dined with them & then to see "The Misleading Lady". Gladys Cooper was not acting. A good show. Supper at the Picadilly & taxi to hotel.
