Monday 5 February 1917
Up at 9. Very misty & cloudy in the morning with some snow. Did some sliding on the moat before lunch. Cleared up at midday. Off at 1.40 on bomb raid on Douai aerodrome. Rather misty but good enough to see fairly well. Got a fair amount of "archie" going over but managed to get of lightly on the way back. Hit the aerodrome but not the hangars. Landed at 4.10. Very cold at 11000 feet! Garland, Snow & I made three Australians out of the five bombing pilots. I am glad to have got through this raid & hope it will be my last. On Duty as Orderley Officer. Maurice has passed his exams & will get his commission soon.

From: Aunty Mary, Mrs Woodward, Thos. Cook & Son, Parcels from Aunty & Girls.
Mary & Cicely sent me a lovely little photo case with a photo of dear old Roger. Awfully nice of them, the dear old things.
